Venice Beach Diary 1/18/2022

I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear?

Martin Luther King Jr.

Yesterday was MLK day and I will try to keep this as lighthearted as possible.

MLK would be absolutely broken at the microscopic progress made since that tragic day. Many pretend to respect and admire the man who still have the spirit he was fighting against. In 1968 a Harris Poll was conducted showing he had a DISAPPROVAL rating of nearly 75%.

Black citizens were given rights by law and not by action. Another thing King said was the real enemy of African Americans was not the KKK or crooked lawyers but “white moderates more devoted to order than justice”. The ones who dismiss entire causes at the slightest bit of misbehavior, saying directly to an entire people their struggle will only be recognized when it is gifted to them bit by bit over centuries and ONLY as a reward for being docile and compliant.

Police murder blacks with impunity and you can count on one hand the officers who have seen justice. People who know not justice are under no obligation to be peaceful.

Black job applicants with no criminal records receive less offers than white applicants with criminal records even in very diverse cities like New York.

We have to do better.

It’s been over 50 years and progress defies perception.

Rest in power Mr. King.

The Golden Hour

Song of the Day:

I know it has been a while since I posted a song. This one is energy.

Finneas and Bilie Eilish are magic. If you disagree that is ok. Everyone is wrong about things from time to time.

“A year from now you will wish you had started today”

-Karen Lamb

There is so much beauty in the world one lifetime is not nearly enough. I think we often choose to suffer and struggle just to prove the world is real to ourselves. Or maybe it is just because a little bit of misery slows time down a bit. When we are in good places living best lives time fucking flies!

Santa Monica Train Station

There is so much comfort when today looks like yesterday. Disruption triggers the survival response. The survival response seeks safety and stability. However, no good story ever started in the same old place.

A few thin clouds and my pasty white ass can stay at the beach alllll day!
