Things have been so busy lately. Time passes quickly when we’re busy. Too much time passing too quickly prevents making memories. It is soon to be 2024. I am struggling to wrap my mind around this. The movies I grew up with never painted a very different picture of the post-2000 era. Skynet was gonna blow us all up in 1997. Back to the Future went to 2025. It was either going to be post-apocalypse or a techno future of varying levels of progress and regression.
One of my favorite things about literature and cinema is the opportunity to create potential future worlds and explore what life could look like. The biggest flex in today’s world is the ability to walk at your own pace. Be fierce about what you exclude from your life. Zero energy will be spent on anything not essential to my happiness or my chosen efforts to leave the world a slightly better place than I found it.
I am in the second half of my 45th year and I am still going strong. I train very hard and eat relatively clean. I do bouts of therapy and actively minimize stress. I take time for beautiful sunsets and will gladly sleep in.
I have just begun my third year in my new hometown love it more and more every day. I just want to be happy most of the time today. It never needs to be any more than most of the time. I want to do things I enjoy most of the time. Life is a gift and it comes at a cost and the cost is the need to spend some time every day doing things that need to be done regardless of how you feel. We need to be of service. There is no experience with a more positive effect on the mind and body than helping. Help animals, help people, help whenever and wherever you can.
